Blog-Versary: Remembering Eric Arvin, $25.00 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway

I am so proud to be celebrating On Top Down Under’s 6th anniversary. When Kazza and I started the site back in October of 2012 we did it as a way for both of us to share our thoughts on our favorite (and some not-so-favorite) books. It has been a wonderful ride and I’m beyond thankful to our followers and the authors who write the amazing books.

I’ve been mostly absent during 2018. A death in my family and events that led up to it threw me for a loop. As I’ve worked to deal with those things, Kazza has completely run the show. Two people running a review site is a lot of work. One person doing it all is a major challenge. I can’t express how much I appreciate everything she’s done as I’ve worked to find my way back.

One of On Top Down Under’s first supporters was Eric Arvin. If you’ve followed us for any length of time you know that Eric was a huge favorite. Not only did I love every book of his I’ve ever read but we genuinely adored him as a person. He never failed to go out of his way to show his appreciation for my reviews, and he was always the first one I asked to be part of our anniversary celebration each year. He always did it with the utmost of kindness and his trademark humor. He was even kind enough to do a video for us only 2 months before he passed away. He didn’t have to do it. He was quite ill at the time. But he insisted because that’s the type of man Eric was.

I could go on and on about how great of a person Eric Arvin was, but I’ll stop here. I just knew that I could not let our anniversary pass without honoring one of our favorite people. I miss Eric. I miss his smile. I miss his sweet messages after every review I wrote for one of his books. I miss his brilliant imagination and the fictional worlds that he created for me and countless others to get lost in. I hope he’s looking down and seeing how much of an impact he made on my life and that of so many others. I only knew Eric for a few years before we lost him, but he will forever have a special place in my heart and on my book shelf. I think I said it best during our 5th anniversary celebration last year. While the giveaway from that post is no longer valid, the sentiment of my message is and forever will be.

To honor Eric, we’re giving away a $25.00 Amazon gift card to one reader who comments on this post. The giveaway will run throughout the month of October, with the winner being selected at random on November 1st and contacted via email. The winner will have 48 hours to respond back or another one will be chosen. If you enter, make sure you check your email and spam folders after the 31st.

The gift card can be used for whatever you wish on Amazon. I just hope that if you haven’t, you’ll check out some of Eric’s books. I can’t recommend them enough – every single one of them. If you want to check out his naughty and humorous side, I suggest Kid Christmas Rides Again. Kid Christmas has a bountiful booty and is worshiped by all, including Kid himself. 😉 I read it every holiday season and I still giggle every single time.

You can find my reviews and links to Eric’s videos and video interviews here. If you want something unique, pick up one of Eric’s books. I also suggest checking out the Valley Series and Woke Up In A Strange Place, though every book he published was amazing. I promise you won’t be disappointed. If you do, pop back on here and let me know what you think.

Hugs to you, Eric, wherever you are. You’ll never be forgotten.

First of all, one of the things that makes On Top Down Under a blog with heart and soul, in my biased opinion, is that we support each other. It’s my pleasure to keep things ticking over – albeit pretty slowly 🙂 – while you have a much needed hiatus. Eric Arvin was a terrific supporter of the blog and your reviews. A nice guy. Appreciative. A fighter when things got tough. I was so happy when you suggested writing this blog post. It’s good to speak of wonderful things, to keep a memory alive, and his writing was a… Read more »

I’ve heard of Eric Arvin recently. Only good things. I had my eyes on Woke Up In A Strange Place and read some reviews, of course that resulted in me bursting into tears. So I’m a bit scared to start it, but I love emotional reads so I’m gonna get to it eventually. 🙂
Happy Birthday to you guys!

I remember his struggle. He was a brave man. His memory lives on in his books.

Eric Arvin was the epitome of grace under fire. I’ve never known a more resilient, upbeat, talented person. I’m so glad you’re honoring him with this post. Best wishes to you both on your sixth anniversary!

I went back to those videos. The first was full of life the 2nd was so gutsy which typified Eric Arvin. Thanks for this reminder of his writing and who he was; an exceptional writer and man. He may be gone but he’s never forgotten. Once again, happy anniversary!
