Merey’s new novel, A Father for Lilja, offers a lyrical tale of gender identity and the complexities of family, both biological and chosen. At her summer home in Provence, Jain is infatuated with her cousin Viju, who returns the interest but distance soon separates the pair. As an adult, Jain finds love with Nine, a young man who bears a resemblance to Viju. But Nine has a lover, Emilio/Emilia, ambiguously gendered. Merey weaves a novel that encapsulates the passions of creativity, memory, and the reality of romance
A transgender book! Before Merey transitioned from FtM, Merey wrote a+e 4ever (http://www.lethepressbooks. com/store/p37/a_e_4ever%3A_a_ Graphic_Novel.html) — we sold thousands of copies when it was an honoree for the Stonewall Award. This book is a challenging read but the payoff is there. If you’re interested in genderqueer topics, family dynamics, and creative writing, I recommend this book.
We have one copy of A Father for Lilja to give away. You may choose print or digital edition.
Another I haven’t read but Out in Print : Queer Book Reviews has an absolutely wonderful review of this book and it sounds really good.
This really does sound good. As soon as I saw it I knew that it would be something I’d want to read. My TBR is growing and growing this month. 🙂
I’ve wanted to read this book since the first time I read a blurb on the publisher site awhile back. Thanks for the giveaway.

Hi, Bindi. Thanks for the comment. You’ve been added to the draw.
When this first came out, I immediately added it to my “want” list. I didn’t even realize until reading it here that it was the same author as a+e 4ever. OK, definitely have to get this one. Thanks so much for the chance!
Both books really look great, don’t they? I’m eager to check them out soon. You’ve been added to the giveaway, Carolyn.
Gender ambiguity and the complexities of family have the makings of a wonderfully intriguing journey.
I agree completely. Thanks for your comment, LS. You’ve been added to the draw.
