A Father For...A Father for Lilja by Ryszard Merey

Merey’s  new novel, A Father for Lilja, offers a lyrical tale of gender identity and the complexities of family, both biological and chosen. At her summer home in Provence, Jain is infatuated with her cousin Viju, who returns the interest but distance soon separates the pair. As an adult, Jain finds love with Nine, a young man who bears a resemblance to Viju. But Nine has a lover, Emilio/Emilia, ambiguously gendered. Merey weaves a novel that encapsulates the passions of creativity, memory, and the reality of romance

A Father for Lilja

A transgender book! Before Merey transitioned from FtM, Merey wrote a+e 4ever (http://www.lethepressbooks.com/store/p37/a_e_4ever%3A_a_Graphic_Novel.html) — we sold thousands of copies when it was an honoree for the Stonewall Award. This book is a challenging read but the payoff is there. If you’re interested in genderqueer topics, family dynamics, and creative writing, I recommend this book.

We have one copy of A Father for Lilja to give away. You may choose print or digital edition.

When this first came out, I immediately added it to my “want” list. I didn’t even realize until reading it here that it was the same author as a+e 4ever. OK, definitely have to get this one. Thanks so much for the chance!

I would love to win this. The book looks very complex (as someone said above) and would be a very interesting read. Count me in with the giveaway and thank you to Lethe and On Top Down Under for the chance.
