Valentine’s Day has always been one major suckfest for Andrew. He knows he is cursed and has resorted to avoiding everything even remotely related to the stupid “holiday.” Against his better judgment, Andrew lets his best friend talk him into attending a themed party one Valentine’s Day evening. Andrew spends the whole night cautiously waiting for his bad luck to kick in, nervous to see what disastrous situation he might find himself in. While at the party, Andrew meets Evan and is immediately attracted to him, but Andrew worries it will end in another Valentine’s debacle if he tries anything.
Can Evan convince Andrew he’s worth the risk or will this really be one more Valentine’s disaster?
My Review:
Andrew hates Valentine’s Day. Well, the word hate is a bit mild for the way Andrew feels about the day.
“Does buying candy and flowers one day a year really make up for being a shitty boyfriend the other three hundred and sixty-four? I don’t think it does.”
Andrew was also born on Valentine’s Day and he has had to share his special day with everyone else since the day he was born.
“The fourteenth is also my birthday, a day that should be a celebration of me, which is instead overshadowed by a naked baby flying around, threatening people with a bow and arrow.”
On his 17th birthday, he officially became a Valentine’s Day Hater. Convinced that he is cursed, he now, at 27, spends every birthday/Valentine’s Day alone with his TV, drooling over a young David Boreanaz in his favorite movie, Valentine.
“I decided if I was seeing someone, I’d end it on January thirteenth and wouldn’t even consider going on a date again till March fifteenth, since it seemed safer that way.”
He doesn’t date anyone near that time and he refuses to socialize in any way, shape or form because it never, ever ends well when he does. Cursed, remember?
“… the guys I dated didn’t really understand the need to take a break for two months around Valentine’s Day to avoid my curse. I could only have so many bad experiences on Valentine’s Day before it became impossible for me not to recognize that I was cursed by the day.”
That is, until his best friend Max forces him to attend an Anti-Valentine’s Day party. Andrew really doesn’t want to go and makes this known – loudly – but he gives in anyway. What he doesn’t expect is to meet a hot looking guy at the party when Max disappears. Evan, said hot looking guy, is hard to say no to, so will Andrew’s curse be over once and for all?
“… Maybe my penis is a curse breaker. It would be a shame not to at least try and end your curse with some of my lucky sex remedy.” He reasoned.
This is classic Kyle Adams. There is a lot of humor and the sex is hot, as it always is in one of Kyle’s shorts. Every character from Andrew to Evan to Max is adorable and you can’t help but root for Andrew to find his happily-ever-after and be rid of that Valentine’s curse once and for all. Thankfully, I wasn’t born on Valentine’s Day but like a dummy I got married on Valentine’s Day and I found myself laughing at – and totally getting – Andrew’s frustration with having to share the holiday. Highly recommended for a good laugh and a little bit of sexy fun. It’s only thirty-something pages but it’s a hell of a fun ride.

I like that Valentine’s Day is your special day…but I really would have been at the anti Valentine’s Day party along side Andrew.
🙂
Loved the broken penis quote. That WOULD be bad. Great review for a fun sounding short, Cindi.
😉 😉
By our 2nd anniversary we were already regretting getting married on that day. We were young and naive (and it was his fault we got married on that day, by the way).
This is a great short. There are so many good quotes in it but the penis quote stood out (for obvious reasons…lol)
😉
If course it was his fault. We must blame the man, lol
I can really blame the man this time. He insisted on getting married on that day. I remind him of this every anniversary when we have to plan around all the other people.
😀
