Interview and Giveaway with Author Kyle Adams
To continue with our one year anniversary celebration, On Top Down Under would like to give a warm welcome to author Kyle Adams, author of twelve popular naughty short stories. Kyle was kind enough to offer an autographed paperback copy of Dirty Shorts: Volume 1 to one lucky person who comments on this post. Dirty Shorts: Volume 1 includes nine of Kyle’s shorts, including all three of the Dirty Drag stories.
His Dirty Play and Not Microwave Safe (A Halloween Story) were both 2012 nominees for the Goodreads M/M Romance Group’s Best Free Stories Members Choice Awards. Dirty Play was also nominated for Best Humorous Story.
It’s not often that Cindi and Kazza K are able read books by the same author, but both have read and enjoyed Kyle’s. Each can attest to the fact that Kyle Adams does write naughty and humor well. 😉
Bio: Kyle Adams started out dabbling with writing gay romance stories for fun. He writes what makes him laugh and hopes anyone who reads his work laughs with him. Kyle had two books nominated in the Goodreads.com M/M Romance Group 2012 readers choice awards. He was nominated in the categories for Best Free Story and Best Humorous Story.
Kyle has a hard time picking a favorite anything (color, book, music, quote, etc.), so trying to write a decent bio was quite the challenge. He is a very quiet person and is used to keeping things to himself. If there is anything you want to know, just ask.
OTDU: First, welcome and thank you for being part of our first anniversary celebration!
Kyle: Thank you so much for having me. I’m thrilled to be a part of your one year celebration.
Cindi: All of your stories are short but yet you seem to get everything covered in only a few pages without leaving the reader feeling like they are missing something at the end. Are there any plans for a novel someday?
Kyle: Yes. Actually I’ve finished co-authoring a full length novel with Gina A Rogers. We’ve submitted it to Dreamspinner Press, and it’s pending review to see if they want to publish it or not. I’ve also finished a story that’s approximately 30,000 words (extended novella), but I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it. I like writing the short stories because I’m really slow, so it’s easier to finish a short story. Then I feel more productive, like I accomplished something.
Kazza: I thought we should welcome you the best way we know how. So…hello —-> 😀
Cindi: You are a naughty, naughty boy in your stories. But yet you claim to be a bit shy in real life. Explain. 🙂
Kyle: I’m not sure really how to answer that. In fiction, I can write whatever I want, no matter how naughty. In life, I’m just more reserved I guess. But give me some vodka, and I’ll loosen up pretty quickly.
When Gina answered this question for me she said: “Naughty boys don’t get any gifts from Santa in real life so you have to behave so you get lots of lube and condoms in your stocking.” Which is probably a better answer than mine.
Cindi: Vodka is always good for, uh, loosening up. Tequila works well too (I’m told). 😉 I love Gina’s answer so Kyle, behave! But then again, I’ve got it on good authority that Santa likes naughty boys as well. *grin* And we never want you to behave while you’re writing.
On top of the hot sex in your shorts, there is also a lot of humor infused in each. We’ve both laughed out loud more than once with each of your stories. How is your sense of humor in the real world?
Kyle: I think I have a fairly broad sense of humor. That’s like the lamest answer ever, right? Humor is so subjective, and all I know is that I like to laugh, and I like it even more if other people are laughing with me. I wanted to make a joke or say something, anything funny here but I came up with nothing.
Kazza K: I’m not really good with humour during sex scenes, but I find you have this knack of making it work – still sexy and charmingly comedic all at once. Where does this come from? How do you know this will work so well? I mean, practice makes perfect, right?
Kyle: I think sexy and laughing go together, it’s sexy to laugh (just not at a dude when he drops 
his britches, that could seriously fuck him up psychologically). I don’t really know if it will work or not. I just hope it does and send it off to a few, dearly appreciated, beta readers and they tell me if it’s too much or not sexy enough or if a joke is too gross.
Kazza K: Hmm, laughing when a dude drops his daks? That’s okay, he can come to me for…assistance after. What? Purely professional here, sort of, maybe…maybe not 😀
Cindi: Now to personal stuff. Tell us something about Kyle Adams that we don’t know. “I L.O.V.E. turtles” is not an answer as we know that one already. 😀
Kyle: I also A.D.O.R.E. Sloths. They are so cute. How was that for an answer?
Kyle: My stories are a lot more interesting than I am.
Kazza K: When can we expect another story, is there something you’re working on now?
Kyle: I don’t have any dates for releases, but I am working on some stuff. I don’t really plan ahead, and most of my stories are short and self published, so I just post them when I’m done editing them after beta feedback.
